New horizons for our researchers at the 1st FOODBIOMES International Congress
The 41st International Congress of the Society for Microbial Ecology in Health and Disease (SOMED) was co-organised with the contribution of FOODBIOMES on 14-16 June 2022 in the city of Alexandroupoli.
The three-day hybrid congress offered participants the opportunity to enrich their knowledge on microbial ecology aspects and microbiome applications, expand their international network but also to get acquainted with the rich local culture of the host city.
During the congress at the FOODBIOMES session on 15 June, we were privileged to have as a key speaker the Executive Director of the International Probiotic Association (IPA), George Paraskevakos, who delved into the legal framework, and new trends and challenges of the probiotic international market.
Representatives of Aura Cooperation and Halo Biome from South Korea offered their insights on the Gateway to Asian Markets, while researchers presented their findings on new probiotic strains and functional extracts, isolation and encapsulation methods, as well as new approaches on sophisticated selection strategies.
A great first event that educated and inspired our participants to explore new horizons in microbiome applications.
