On 9 April 2022, the first workshop of the Research Infrastructure “FOODBIOMES” took place at the University of Ioannina, which was organized by the Laboratory of Organic Chemistry of the Department of Chemistry.

During the meeting, the existing framework of research infrastructures at a national and European level was analysed, and the vision, mission and strategic goals of FOODBIOMES were presented. All research teams of FOODBIOMES had the chance to present their results from research activities implemented so far and to discuss further actions that will facilitate their research on food microbiome.

The strategic networking plan of FOODBIOMES with the business and academic sector, as well as with other European and National Research Infrastructures, was also analysed and discussed.

FOODBIOMES workshop was supported by Aenorasis, BIKOS, Bio-Chem, DOTSOFT, HELLAMCO, Help Pharmaceuticals, ZAGORISIO, PIGASSOS and ΚΥΚΛΟΣ ΠΟΙΟΤΗΤΑΣ-QLCon.
