Access to the University of the Aegean

Design of bioprocesses for the treatment and utilization of waste streams of the agroindustrial sector

Scope description:

The objective of the action concerns the design and organization of a bioprocess aimed at the simultaneous treatment and utilization of waste streams of the wider agro-industrial sector. The aim of the action is the design of a bioprocess for the decontamination of a waste stream and the simultaneous production of bio-products of high added value (nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, biofuels, bio-materials, precursor chemical compounds)of the action concerns the planning and organization of a clinical study-nutritional intervention to evaluate the bioactivity of innovative foods on blood and urine biomarkers effecting postprandial lipemia, glycemia and oxidative stress.

Information – Clarifications:

The Laboratory of Physicochemical & Biotechnological Valorization of Food By-products of the University of the Aegean provides the opportunity for professionals and scientists active in the field of bioprocesses and in particular in the utilization of waste streams in the wider agroindustrial sector to use the facilities of the infrastructure, all the basic equipment and experience of its researchers, to design their own bioprocess. In particular, the final participants will have the opportunity to utilize the study protocols, the analytical equipment as well as the analytical equipment for the design of a bioprocess aimed at the utilization of waste streams, adapted to the needs of the research questions they want to investigate.
